Regional violin making from the 19th to the 20th century - Lombardy

Originally from Cremona, Gaetano Antoniazzi (1825-1897) worked in Milan with his two sons Riccardo and Romeo. Many students were successful such as Azzo Rovescalli, with his sons Tullio and Manlio, Piero Parravicini, Carlo Ravizza, Giuseppe Pedrazzini, Ferdinando Garimberti and Natale Novelli. The collaboration of the Antoniazzi family with the laboratory of Antonio Monzino was significant.

Leandro Bisiach (1864-1945) worked in Milan with his four sons, Giacomo, Leandro Jr., Andrea and Carlo. Many of Leandro's students had great success such as Sesto Rocchi, Gaetano Sgarabotto, Giuseppe Ornati, Pietro Borghi, Celeste Farotti, Celestino Farotto, Camillo Mandelli da Calco. 

Other violin makers from Milan included Giovanni Galimberti, Erminio Farina, Ambrogio Sironi, Erminio Malagutti, Benigno Saccani.

In the same period, the luthiers Carlo Bosi, Romedio Muncher, Aristide Cavalli, Carlo Schiavi and Giovanni Pizzamiglio worked in Cremona.  Stefano Scarampella and his student Gaetano Gadda worked first in Brescia and then in Mantova. Oreste Martini worked in Mantova. Giuseppe Stefanini and Benvenuto Botturi worked in Brescia.
