Regional violin making from the 19th to the 20th century - Tuscany

Luciano and Mario Castellani worked in Florence in the second half of the 19th century. In 1886 Giuseppe Scarampella (1838-1902), a student of Nicolò Bianchi, was taken on as head of the workshop.  Valentino De Zorzi, who had studied under Eugenio Degani in Veneto, worked in Pistoia from 1880 and in Florence from 1885. On his death, his workshop was taken over by Silvio Vezio Paoletti. In the first half of the 20th century Fernando Del Perugia also worked in Florence, as well as Alfio Batelli, Giuseppe and Alfredo Del Lungo, Serafino and Lapo Casini, Dario Vettori, Giuseppe Bargelli and Edoardo Martini. Leandro Bisiach worked in Florence in the early 20th century where he taught Igino Sderci (1884-1983) who later worked with the Bisiach family. Luciano Sderci, son of Igino, also worked in Florence. Guido Maraviglia worked in Pistoia, Luigi and Oreste Cavallini worked in Arezzo, Stelio Rossi in Siena and Cesare Maggiali in Carrara.
